Sun Valley Weekend

My computer is driving me bananas this morning. I can't seem to post the photos I want to show you, and the blasted thing keeps logging off at random moments. Very annoying.
My weekend was really fantastic. I went to a wedding in Sun Valley, Idaho. My sweet cousin, Geneva, got married to this man who I think is pretty fantastic. He is whisking her off to Australia forever. I hope he takes great care of her.
The reception was really fun. I love to dance all night, and I don't get many opportunities to do so. This time, I got to dance with my 10-year-old. He was kind of the dance floor sensation. He is a really good dancer, and all the grown-up dancers were amazed at him. That's my boy!
They had this Neil Diamond impersonator. What a riot! Do you realize that the average American knows 100% of the words to Neil Diamond's songs? It's true! Australians, too, by the looks of it. Every single person there sang at the top of their lungs while this sequin-clad individual crooned to the microphone. It was wonderful.
Now, I was in Sun Valley with my family. Mother and Andi were there; and Dani, Ryan, and Maddie; and then there was me and my two boys. We've never vacationed together before, but I quite enjoyed it. M' followed Ryan around with a severe hero-worship thing going on. Dani slept a lot and sipped ice water on account of the new baby brewing. Andi walked around with movie star sun glasses, plus she danced with bartenders. She feels strongly that bartenders should have some fun, too, which I hadn't really considered before. I can see that she's right. Maddie was the center of attention at every location we visited on account of being a baby and super cute. Mother followed about grinning at the collection of her children and grandchildren. I, as you know, was looking for material for my blog. That and dancing with D'.
On the drive home, we all pulled over at this roadside attraction with cheesy bright signs inviting us to visit the Ice Caves. I have all these pictures that BLOGGER WON'T LOAD.
The Ice Caves were wonderful! The outhouse there wasn't, though it's something of an attraction on it's own. The bright red door won't close properly, and the ill necessities sort of drain out the back. You wouldn't want to use it if there was a line of others there waiting. Nor in the sweltering summer. Truly, it was the least appealing outhouse north of Guatemala.
But the Ice Caves were really something. We had a guided tour. The tour guide was so Happy To See Customers! Because they don't often get them, I guess. The desert there is covered with lava rock and sage brush, and it's the sight of a big old volcano. The caves are down in the lava tubes. We had to descend into the earth, and it was claustrophobic for a moment. But then, the cavern opened up above my head. There's this boardwalk extending over the ice itself, and the ceiling was all sparkly from the ice crystals. It was cold. You wouldn't want to get stuck down there in the dark, that's for sure.
We came home at last on Sunday night.
And now, I am back to normal life.
I will keep trying to post these photos!

That sounds fun. I'm so against Niel Dimond, but I still know all the words on account of my mom being in love with him when I was a kid.

I love Neil Diamond. I mean really - what kind of person hates Neil Diamond? (Just kidding, Jenn!)

I LOVE the way you write, Kelly, because it's just like the way you talk - and I love talking to you because you're so full of dramatic facial expressions and superlatives and wild hand gestures... so different from my monotone way of doing things.

Sounds like a very fun weekend. I would pretty much marry Don because he's so cute. Seriously. And the boy can dance? Sheesh, watch out, Mom.
