More on The Shack

Yep, I'm with Yvonne on this one. Go read it.
I finished this morning. I read last night until my tears were too blinding, and I gave up the pursuit. This morning, I read quickly to finish.

Who is this author? This person has a very insightful way of expressing difficult spiritual questions and answers. Take, for example, these: Doesn't God get irritated with me being such a slow learner? Why does God allow evil? Why did God create poisonous plants and harmful animals? How can I understand the concept of the Trinity?

This is a powerful book because it tackles enormous questions in a creative way. It will blow your mind. Plus, you will cry a lot. It will be on my mind for a long time.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Kelly,
I wanted your opinion before you knew mine. It is really emotional. But, when I got over the emotion, and really gave it careful consideration, with some prayer involved, I decided that I don't like his portrayal of God. The Trinity in the Bible is Jesus, a dove, and God's voice when we see them all together. I think beyond that we should not go. There are some interesting thoughts on tragic events, though.
Regardless, it is thought provoking.
Can't believe you didn't like Mitford, probably because you are not OLD! However, your Mom hated it too!!
Love you,

I don't agree with all of the doctrinal stuff, though I'm still sorting thru which to keep, and which to discard. I really like the way it stretched my thinking about God. It also challenged for me a couple of areas that God's been working on in me. I am re-reading parts and thinking a lot.
I'd love to talk about it! We should get together over coffee...
