Back Through the Wardrobe

I have returned from a delightfully restful weekend. I ran off for an out-of-town date. I had dinner with a handsome man in Seattle on Thursday evening. That was fun! We had a yummy French wine from Chablis.

Then, I spent my weekend reading, watching movies, and thinking. I walked by the sea, and sat by the fire. It was like a spiritual retreat, something I have been asking God for, for quite a while.
I journaled for pages and pages.
I think I learned rather a lot. Hopefully, it will spill out as wisdom in my life.
There's more for me to think about, of course.
The challenge facing me today is to keep that peace and serinity at the heart of my day.
I woke up with a particular verse on my mind. It's from Isaiah, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed upon Thee, because he trusteth in Thee." I love the King James Version.
That verse speaks volumes to me. You see, my life has numerous pockets of chaos. These areas that could spin out into a position to dominate me.
There's fear.
There's people.
There's responsibilities.
But, I think that verse shows in my mind like a passage from one of C.S.Lewis's books. Edmond is being correctly accused of an horrific crime by the White Witch. Do you know the part? Edmond, guilty as can be, stands with his eyes confidently trained upon Aslan, who alone can save him. Though the accusations are true and ugly, Edmond's eyes do not waver. I love that!
I am such a screw-up, and yet, God is so steady. O, that mine eyes, and mine heart, and my mind may be stayed confidently upon His Face this day!
You should probably pray for me.....

Glad you had a calming weekend! Were you in Seattle or the area?

I have to admit I struggle with the KJV! Finally had to get a book, larger than the KJV, to explain what some of the words used really meant! (I love the beauty of Luther's Bible, but some of the English Bibles may today be more accurate...)

Have a great day keeping that calm alive!

Ooh - you sound refreshed - good for you!

I want to go with you on your next solitary retreat. But then it wouldn't be solitary, would it? But it would still be nice and I'd let you journal and walk by the sea alone if you wanted. And I coudl help keep the fire going. Wouldn't it be romantic and wonderful?

I was on Bainbridge Island, the most beautiful place on earth.
Cathy, let's do go away! Let's have a girlfriend's retreat. We could rent a big place and you could invite all those friends you never see, and I will invite all mine, and we can have a whole time for catching up! What say you?

Hey, wait a minute! All of this fine things you are attributing to your trip are equally available through consumption of any of Tobler's fine products!

And, it is cheaper than even a bottle of wine much less airfare!

Imagine you and Cathy on a toll call, each eating chocolate - cheap, enjoyable and calming to the spirit....

Oh, dear man, you are missing another part of the female psyce. We need Words as much as we need wine and chocolate. Women don't try to fix problems, we offer high fat foods and sympathy. This is the key to a woman's heart. Say "amen" girls..

Amen!

Okay then! Let's set a date. I probably can't plan anything before fall - but I'm thinking late September, early October sounds perfect.

What say you?
