The wisdom of married women

"Well, men are like beer mugs," Patsy patiently explained, "They are all strong and big and sturdy. Women, are more like a delicate wine glass."
I listened intently, because I don't really understand much about men.
I understand a lot about wine glasses.
"If there were only beer mugs in the church, there would be only that hard and strong part. If there were only delicate wine glasses, everybody would be leaving all the time because their feelings would always be shattered."
I thought about this for a moment.
I could see what she meant.
"If that's true," I said sadly, "I am at a disadvantage. I am single, so I have no beer mug to my wine glass."
"That's not true!" Jenine corrected me, "God is your husband."
"So, then... God is my beer mug?"

What does "prosit" mean, Kris?

To your health! A common beer mug tapping toast.

(Cheers, Mud in your eye, etc....)

In the time since your post I have been thinking about this. Superficially, it is an interesting analogy, most women I know like wine, most men beer. Odd. (I fear I am more of a liquor sipper so rejected by both groups.)

As you intended it, and though smacking somewhat of Catholicism, yes God is your husband, provider, protector in the absence of an earthly husband. But, as well, the responsibility falls upon the Church to provide for your needs in your singleness. (Something few churches do that I have ever known! For some reason the provision for the elderly, the disabled, the widowed, the orphan is conveniently forgotten.....)

May your mug or glass overflow!

Kris,
My wine and beer drinking Christian friends would never reject you for drinking liquor, indeed, they might see a spiritual act of love in sharing your prefered beverage!
God most certainly has been all those things you mentioned. He continues to miraculously provide and protect. He is as good as His Word- I've rested my whole life on the Truth of that. That is why I am a stay-at-home mom, though I have no earthly husband to support me. God is Sufficient!
