The rare thought politic

I like Sarah Palin, so far. This morning I was reading about how the conservative Christian folks of this great nation just love her. She's an "average soccer mom" with kids, and a blue collar husband. She's not your normal politician, and she's totally pro-life. Ok.
Here's my admittedly primeval question: Why are the Christians all stoked about having a working mom in the White House?

Whatever happened to "the hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world?"

Where is the value in raising up children in the "Nurture and admonition of the Lord?"

I'll vote for her. It's just ironic to me that family values are being represented by a woman who has made her career outside of her family.

Ya'all have fun with that in the comment section.

Is there ANYTHING average about being a politician?

And also, didn't the Proverbs 31 woman make a living outside the home? There is nothing Biblical about women staying home with their children.

You GO girl! I was actually thinking of you as I wrote that, because I really like to get your ire up. You're spunky, and I love that about you. Plus? Also? I love you, Jenn

Personally, I think she has more credibility than either presidential candidate - so I would vote for her but neither of the front runners!

In Biblical times the household "accounts" were the responsibility of the woman - it was assumed they had some form of business they ran. Failing the ability to even have a small business, gleaning the fields was their task. So women were very much outside of the home. Child care was pretty much limited to 0 through 9-ish for boys, 0 to marriage for girls.

Just to throw a bit of spice into the convo- we're throwing an Support Barak Obama event at the gallery. I even get to meet the devilishly handsome (I've never seen him so don't know how false this is) Joe Simitian, State Senator of California! Cause I love politics...............yeah.

L you

sarah who? Is that the girl who's running for vice president, no idea. You've got to keep me up on these sorts of things. I pretty sure it's important.

I appreciate your posting and agree but at this point I will support a working mom who has a great political "platform" than a socialist! It may be ironic or hypocritical but we are stuck!

It is notable that father Todd Palin has been home with the family since Sarah took office. Seems to me that could cover the home bases quite nicely, especially if he's a safe driver and knows how to fry up the bacon.
And Kelly, I've enjoyed keeping up with you on your blog lately!

Val! Hi there. What a wonderful surprise!

What's wrong with socialism? Sweden has made it work quite nicely?

Also, Kelly, you haven't gotten my ire up. I mostly stay out of politics because I find ALL politicians to be hypocritical. And I'm deeply suspicious of anyone who seeks after power.

Jenn-I just met a guy from Sweden. His name is Magnus Andreas Johansen and he has a sexy accent when he orders scotch. We told him that all he needs to do to instantly score with all women is say his name and then spout off the names of all the scotches in his accent. This is the formula for Instant Action. He was greatful for the advice-but we didn't talk politics or socialism.

Kelly-there will be wine and cheese, plus maybe some cute boys with the big bucks who want to buy our art and listen to Senetor Joe do his talk. I too will sell out for wine. Or chocolate.

Oh what fun ,

1 .Palin is a hockey mom , not a soccer mom .
2.She has 5 children and you think she's not mother to them? Didn't you see her youngest daughter consintantly wispering in her ear at the convention .
Palin was mothering her child beautifuly in front of America ! What patience she had .That was not staged !
3. I think you have more in common with Palin than you would admit .I bet your wearing pants right now.j
