Democrates, and Republicans, and Vampires...Oh My!

What election?
I have been reading a book, for heaven's sake, and I'm utterly useless. It's the one vampire book that every one's talking about. It's riveting. I am currently wondering if perhaps Tim is a romantic and passionate vampire. That could add a new dynamic to our relationship, eh?
It's called Twilight; have you read it? I think the intended audience is 15 and female, so say whatever you want. Who cares if I'm immature and mellow dramatic? I needed a little distraction from real life. I can't put it down.

Don't worry about my vote, I went this morning and made my mark on this fine democratic process. My cousin went and cancelled my vote with hers, though. Meanie.
I am actually quite proud of her. This was her first foray into the American privilege of voting.
Who's going to win, do you think?

I was reading out to my children from the latest Eragon sequel. Great book, that. But now that I'm into my own book, I've abandoned that endeavor. In truth, I figure the faster I get through the one I'm reading, the sooner I can get back to my children. Of course the book I'm reading has several sequels, too.

In case you were wondering, I was a Pirate for Halloween. I like costumes a lot.

Although it's nice chatting with you, I need to go get back to my book.
Are you reading anything interesting?

I read Twilight, but then lost interest with the second book. All that vampire-y-ness started to annoy me. Kyler just read all four in about four days. He loved them. Not sure how much that has to do with the books and how much has to do with the fact that he has a huge crush on the girl who loaned him the books...

I'm reading "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver right now. As well as "Nickel and Dimed" by Barbara Ehrenreich. Oh - and "Finding our Way Again - the Return of the Ancient Practices" by Brian McClaren.

I always read more than one book at a time.

I'm waiting for the hype of of the Eragon book (I can't seem to spell it this morning) to die down so I can get it at the library. Yes, I COULD get on the waiting list, but I'm too lazy.

In the end your little cousin did not go vote but your next to little cousin (me) did, and I did cancel your vote and helped my state change sides. Looks like it's all pretty much over with today.

Also, I need more books to read. I went to the library and ended up with only one good book out of the three I took home. Maybe I'll head back today.

Currently reading, Old Time Punishments, a look at what was defined as crime and how it was dealt with in England and Scotland in the 14th to 18th century.

Sorry you asked?

You are correct in your assesment of the general audience for Twilight-my 16 y/o daughter and her friends camped out at Barnes & Noble for their hot off the press copy and wound up in the paper too:)
The movies comes out in a couple weeks...better hurry and finish the book.
Cant wait to hear your review-we;ve had quite interesting discussions aout it around here.

I love that other people in my family get as engrossed in books as I do. The last Harry Potter came out just weeks after Owyn was born and my good friend lent it to me. I remember reading it in two days - but I don't remember anything about baby Owyn during that time. Wonder what I did with him... Oh well, he survived - they are tenacious little things, those babies!!
